An otolaryngologist – more widely known as an ear, nose, and throat specialist (ENT) – is a physician and surgeon who specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions relating to the head and neck. Such specialists might treat sinusitis, chronic ear infections, hearing loss, sleep apnea, allergies or snoring. Otolaryngologists may become even more specialized – focusing on diseases or disorders of the nose (rhinologists), ear (otologists) or throat (laryngologist) – or they may focus on pediatric otolaryngology or reconstructive surgery to correct cleft palates and other birth defects
